Our law firm is proud of its long tradition. The Toffoletto law firm was founded in Milan in 1925 by Mr. Angelo Toffoletto together with his partner Mr. Venturini. The firm was located in Via Senato, and later moved to Via Donizetti. Unusual for an Italian law firm at the time, the firm focused on a specific area: employment and labour law. Angelo Toffoletto also co-founded the first Italian magazine specializing in employment law. He collaborated with the newspaper "Il Sole 24 Ore" on important legislative provisions and wrote numerous commentaries on the principles of corporate and post-corporate collective agreements.
He was succeeded by Mr. Umberto S. Toffoletto (Milano 1929 - 2000) who graduated in 1950 with a thesis on the role of the Executive. For over ten years, he also served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Milan. The firm's business expanded during that time, and in 1952, the law offices moved to Via Eugenio Chiesa 4. Mr. Umberto S. Toffoletto was among the founders of the Italian Association of Employment and Social Security (AIDLASS) in 1963. Dedicating his entire professional life to employment law, Umberto S. Toffoletto worked with several important employment law magazines and wrote significant commentaries on collective agreement principles on the most important laws of the 1960s and 1970s. His commentary on the workers’ statute remained a reference point for decades. Until the modification of the judicial procedure governing employment law in 1973, Toffoletto was one of the few Italian law firms exclusively practicing employment and labour law.
In 1980, Mr. Franco Toffoletto joined the law firm. His thesis on employment law analysed the dismissal of executives. He continued to collaborate with the faculty of employment law of the University of Milan for over ten years. Even today, he contributes to many specialized publications and the financial newspaper "Il Sole 24 ore". He is also a frequent speaker at many employment law conferences.
Mr. Franco Toffoletto took part in the Scientific Committee that organized the first European convention in employment law from which the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA) originated in 1988. In 1995, the law firm began its cooperation with other European law firms practising employment law, which in 2001, resulted in the formation of the international alliance Ius Laboris.
In July 2003 the firm moved to its current offices in Via Rovello, 12.
In March 2002, the AGI (the Italian Employment Lawyers’ Association) was founded by a group of Employment lawyers of whom Mr. Franco Toffoletto is part of.
In May 2007, an important partnership with the firm of Prof. Raffaele De Luca Tamajo which has its headquarters in Naples, was established.
In January 2012, the firm merged with the firm De Luca Tamajo e Soci so to form Toffoletto De Luca Tamajo e Soci, the biggest employment law firm in Italy.
Toffoletto De Luca Tamajo e Soci constitutes today of 18 partners, 70 lawyers, and 20 employees with four offices in Italy: Rome, Milan, Naples and Bergamo.
