The Firm will contribute to the annual event, entitled «Managing an International Workforce: 2016 & Beyond», organised by Lewis Silkin, English member firm of Ius Laboris, the largest global alliance of lawyers specialising in employment law and HR law.
The event, which will take place on Friday, 5th February in London, will be dedicated to the most recent international developments in employment law, with a review of key topics such as technology, flexibility, discrimination and performance.
Valeria Morosini, a partner at the Firm, will speak in two different sessions. The first session – “Working 9 to 5: not a way to make a living?” - will be dedicated to the topic of working hours and commentary will also be provided on the recent decisions of the European Court of Justice in the Tyco and British Gas Vs. Lock cases. Markus Bohnau, a partner at Kliemt & Vollstadt, German member firm of Ius Laboris, will also take part in the debate, which will focus on the case law concerning the working hours of employees who do not perform their work in a single fixed place of work, the pay during and immediately following holiday periods and the possible impact of EU case law in local jurisdictions.
During the second session, entitled “The Uberisation of the Workforce", types of employment that are not standard, innovative and supported by new technologies will be examined from an international perspective, together with the connected risks for employers and the possible strategies to adopt when facing concrete situations.
Also participating in this session are Catrin Nation, Head of Legal - EMEA & USA and Richard Harris, General Counsel & Chief of Staff, both of the company Robert Walters PLC.
The sessions will respectively be moderated by Emma Perera and Hannah Price, Partners in the Employment, Reward and Immigration Department of Lewis Silkin.
